Out and about

Today we had a few minor errands to run and needed to get out the house, so we were gone most of the day which resulted in some not so great food choices. I did NOT do good on the no-bad carb deal. And have already decided I'm just gonna have to wait til next week to do it, with this week being so out of routine and off.

D: Chilis Guiltless Grill Steak, with a salad with lowfat ranch

A day at home

We're at home this week so D can get some good healing in. He spent all day today laying on the couch watching Dora. He did finally eat some noodles, etc, and is still in some pain, but otherwise, he's ok. We did get out the house today once to go up to Braums to get him some frozen yogurt (and mommy something too...lol) but otherwise have been home.

Input:
B: oatmeal packet
S: grapes
L: a cup of noodles with a bit of butter and garlic
S: apple
D: green bean casserole (leftover) with canadian bacon
S: single dip hot fudge sundae at Braums

Cals: 1224 calories

Output: a mile on my recumbent stationary bike at a fairly fast pace, it was "just" a mile but omg I can so tell I haven't really done a good workout in a week what with being sick, AF, and now D's surgery...yeessh, it bout killed me!

I miss you, Grandad...

Well yesterday was our happy day and today is our sad day.

2 years ago today, my grandad passed away from Alzheimers. Yes, it happened the day after the adoption was finalized. It was a decision I struggled with about whether or not to postpone it (we knew that it was getting close, but did not know it would happen the next day), but I'm glad I didn't. Looking back, it wouldn't have changed anything, and it was a definite bright spot in that time.

I so wish D had been able to know him. He saw him a few times, but my grandad was already so far gone that they didn't "know" each other. And that makes me sad. My grandad was a good man with a big heart, and even though we drove each other nuts having the same personalities (we butted heads a lot), I loved him so much.

Will always be missed
Today is D's surgery to get his tonsils/adenoids out. He did fine with it and spent his day laying on the couch watching Dora. He did throw up once due to the anesthesia reaction, and is in some pain, but otherwise is ok.

Input:
B: banana, grapes
L: eggbeaters with yolk and turkey sausage patties
S: popsicle and about 8oz of apple juice
D: grilled chicken breast and broccoli covered in ragu and 2% milk cheese
S: Haagen Daaz Lowfat frozen yogurt

Happy anniversary to me and D!!!

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY!

2 years ago today, D and I went in front of a judge and I promised to be his mommy for the rest of our lives. Too bad, he didn't solemnly swear to always be a good boy...darn I knew I shoulda asked for that to be added in there...lol

Things have been difficult lately between us, with his med changes, and we had an especially hard day yesterday with me having AF so rough, but ya know what, I wouldn't change getting him for the world. I love you, D-man, Happy "Gotcha" Day.

D and I with the judge after we got finalized

D patiently waiting in the hallway beforehand with our caseworker, we had quite a long wait!

In diet news, today I begin 5 days of low carbs (no pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, corn). I think its doable though. Here's what I have planned so far.

B: banana, string cheese
S: almonds
L: Tuna salad, carrot sticks, applesauce
S: fat free yogurt and more almonds
D: Grilled chicken, green bean casserole (no fried onions, and 97% fat free COM soup), grapes
S: 1 serving of Haagen Dazs Low fat frozen yogurt

Cals: 1155 calories

Output: starting the Nike Womens Training today, so that will be 20 minutes of core work, not sure what else I'll be doing, depends on AF

Another long day...but prepping...

My friend Teresa and I decided to make next week a low carb week to kickstart some weight loss. This means we are eliminating tortillas, rice, pasta, corn and potatoes from our diets. We've gotten pretty creative with menu ideas though so I think we'll be able to stick it out. Its just Monday through Friday the next 2 weeks, so its totally doable, and I'm pretty excited to see what happens.

We'll still be having fruit, oatmeal, cream soups, etc (though no potato or corn) in recipes. I've got a grocery list ready to go when AF lets me GO to the store. lol I stayed home all day today for that very reason, aside from a quick trip out. I decided to not go to my gma's for lunch due to AF, but D had a mini meltdown from the routine change so we got out the house to go grab some lunch, then came right back home. And most of today has been a carb-y day, just to get it out of my system...lol

This week is going to be interesting though, as D has his surgery on Tuesday (tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy) so we'll be at home most of the week. I'm wondering how well that will help/hinder my diet, but we'll see. I'm going to have it well stocked with healthy stuff (and there aren't many carbs in the house right now so it should be ok).

Input:
L: Taco Bell chicken quesadilla, yogurt (at home)
S: small piece of dark chocolate and a minifudgsicle (OMG I can so tell its AF time)
D: two Nutrigrain lowfat waffles, with a bit of Country Crock light and light syrup, and apple slices
S: Betty Crocker warm delights coffee cake (*sniff* my LAST ONE)

Cals: 1266 calories

Output: do constant bathroom breaks count? uggh

Uggh

With stopping the BC pills, AF is on a rampage this weekend. And it sucks! The only thing we did today was meet up with my family for lunch at Pappasitos. I was still taking it abit easy from the tummy bug, so I skipped out on salsa. But since the chicken quesadilla didn't bother me at all, I had what I wanted for dinner.

Input:
L: Half the lunch portion chicken quesadilla (split it with D), a few chips, and a bit of sour cream
S: Popsicle and a fat free yogurt
D: Half a Totinos pizza, carrot sticks
S: Another popsicle and a small piece of dark chocolate

Cals: 1303 calories

Output: not much at all

DAM BLC started today!

For those of you who don't speak "dam-ese"...that's Dallas Fort Worth Area Moms Biggest Loser Competition...lol

Sadly, since AF started up full force, I was up a few lbs. 254.4 BLECH. On a good note, I have a chance at having some kinda loss by next week. So...yeah.

I kept today eating light, very light during the day since I still had issues last night (it was a LONG night), but by dinner, I again needed protein. So D and I used our weekly CFA/Subway, and grabbed Subway on the way home after getting his med refill.

Input:
B: a cup of sprite (was pretty queasy), 16oz of gatorade through the day
S: applesauce cup
L: Choice Ramen/crackers
S: none
D: Subway: turkey sandwich on wheat, with light mayo and cheese
S: Popsicle, and then I was craving chocolate and found a little piece of dark chocolate leftover from D's Vday stash. lol

Cals: 1309 calories

Output: about 20 minutes on the bike (although it was pretty slow)

Feelin better, but a lesson learned

Yeah...I was feeling quite decent by dinner tonite, and was REALLY feeling the lack of protein from being sick, SO I decided to make some grilled chicken. Well I was feeling REALLY good about that, so I added a bit of zesty italian light dressing to it for some flavor. Yeah BIG mistake. I'm paying for it now. :( Guess tomorrow will be back to an easy day.

Input:
B: banana
S: Gatorade and applesauce
L: cup of Easy Mac
S: some ramen noodle soup (very soupy)
D: grilled chicken with a bit of zesty italian light, mashed potatoes, a small spoonful of cottage cheese, and a biscuit
S: a popsicle

Cals: 1484 calories

Output: still not up to anything

Oh and I should add, I started AF again today since I stopped taking the BC pills (to see if it helps with weight loss)...and ugggh AF is so not being nice either. I'm dreading this again, but if it will get the rest of this weight off, it will SO be worth it.

A barely slightly better day

Well I felt a tad better, but not much. At least the throwing up was done, FWIW. I did manage to get in a tad more food today, some light carbs. It did suck that it was such a pretty day outside and I felt like crap and couldn't enjoy it.

On a good note, D's new bed set was delivered this evening and they put it together for us: Check out pics!

Input: a little less than 2 bottles of gatorade, a sleeve of crackers, a small bowl of rice, a cup of easy mac, and a popsicle

Cals: 1381 calories

Output: not one darn thing, I still feel like crud

Freakin sick

I woke up about 5:30 this morning sick as sick can be, and threw up all morning. Fun stuff eh? By evening, I still had other issues, and was feeling like a mac truck ran me over. Its a bug I know I got from a friend of mine who we were hanging out with on Sunday. But I thought I was safe after Monday came and went with no issues. Oh well...it was an awful day, regardless.

Cals: 32 oz bottle of Gatorade, 2 cups of sprite, and about half a sleeve of crackers

A whole whoppin 617 calories.

Output: does pukin my guts up count?

A better day than yesterday

Thank goodness Vday is OVER. Now I can go back to only being reminded of my single status every 30 minutes or so, instead of the every minute it has been the last few weeks.

We had a decent day. Went to my grandma's for sunday lunch, though they ordered in pizza to celebrate my brother's bday. D was at least in a better humor than yesterday!!!

Input:
L: 2 slices of regular crust pizza and one slice of thin crust, plus about 2 spoonfuls of cottage cheese
S: my gma's homemade coconut cake (my bro's bday choice)
D: a cup of spaghetti and 2 servings of grilled chicken

Cals: 1562 calories

Output: 45 minutes of chasing D around my gma's backyard...lol I was tired! Does it count that I also sneezed literally over 30 times yesterday? I swear I'm sore from it!

Vday sucks....

Yes, it does. And this Vday in particular was awful. Well, mostly.

I had high hopes when he didn't wake up til 8am, but...despite that, the day started out HORRIBLE. D had to be peeled off the ceiling so I could clean his ouchie on his elbow that he got at school yesterday. Its a nickel sized chunk of flesh missing and looks awful!!! So that wore us both out. We went to our friend Teresa's house to make Valentines for our family, with her little man J. D really had problems staying focused and you could see his med starting to kick in, to the point where he had a full out meltdown and could not be talked down from it. So I dragged him outta there. He realized part way home that we left his cap at Teresa's. More meltdown. We got home and I quickly threw together lunch, but he sobbed and hollered through THAT, so I finally forced him to lay down for a nap. He was SO overtired. He sobbed about 20 minutes and finally passed out for an hour or so. After all that, I considered the day shot to hell, and other than going to run one errand, we stayed at home. He did get to ride his bike a bit and I cleaned out my car.

KNOWING it was gonna be a sad day due to Vday, I had prepared. I bought a Totinos Crisp crust pizza for us to split so I wasn't tempted to order it, and some chocolate almonds to munch on. After dinner, I put D down to bed at 6:30, he SO needed it. I figured I'd spend the evening moping, but thanks to a very timely RAK (thanks girl!!! I hope you know how much that meant to me!!!), the evening HAS improved. (And I got some ice cream and popcorn out of it too!!!)

I had intended on getting to 1800 cals today, but it still so didn't happen...oh well...maybe tomorrow...

Input:
B: apple cinnamon cheerios and skim milk
S: fruit snack pouch
L: 2 light hotdogs with some ketchup, carrot slices, fatfree yogurt
D: Half a totinos crisp crust pizza, half a banana, and chocolate almonds
S: Weight Watchers ice cream cup and minibag of popcorn

Cals: 1602 calories

Output: 30 minutes (split up though) riding my new (used) recumbent stationary bike, chasing D up and down the alley on his bike for about 20 minutes

A high sugar day...

Today I was so excited about getting my new toy that I completely forgot to eat anything until lunch! And didn't even snack at all! Urggghhh...oh well. It ended up working out fine since we met up with Beth and her family, and Amanda and Isabelle, to celebrate Micah's 5th birthday, at Cici's! Happy Birthday, MICAH!!!

Input:
L: Smart Ones Salisbury Steak meal and *bag* Valentines Cupcake
D: Cici's: 1 piece of garlic bread, 1 slice of hamburger pizza, 2 slices of pepperoni pizza
S: a slice of Micah's birthday cake

Cals: 1382 calories

Yeah I've been low on cals since the splurge and before, but don't worry, tomorrow, since I know I'ma be depressed as its frigging Vday, I already have some chocolate planned, and will prolly allow myself to go around 1800 calories.

Output: uggh none today

Our ENT visit

We had to go the ENT for D today for the foul smelling odor coming from his nasal drainage. He's had it for 3 weeks now and has been on two rounds of abx for it. The ENT took one look, and immediately said that his tonsils need to go. So on February 24th, D will be having both his tonsils AND adenoids taken out. Crazy thing, is that he already had his adenoids out once 2 years ago, but they either grew back or the 1st ENT did a crappy job...:( I can't say I'm looking forward to the surgery, but I'm praying it helps D's issues and clears them up for good.

Other than dealing with a cranky D at the ENT, esp. when his meds kicked in and a meltdown ensured, it was not a bad day.

Input:
B: apple cinnamon cheerios and skim milk
L: 2 Taco Bell Cheese rollups and a sweet tea
S: Cheezits
D: Two light hot dogs, a cup of mac n cheese, carrots, and a fruit snack pouch

A Stormy Evening

I was up most ALL night so I'm exhausted today! And a crazy storm moved through Dallas, but thankfully, it passed through fairly quickly.

Since its the day after a splurge, I kept it a light day. I had a lot of drainage as well and just wasn't hungry today anyway...so its all good.

Input:
B: Quaker Chewy Lowfat Granola bar
S: String cheese and cheezits
L: Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers meal
S: Fat free yogurt
D: Spaghetti with grilled chicken
S: Banana and fruit snacks pouch

D's neuro update and a splurge night!!!!

It was fun! We hit up Red, Hot and Blue, and I ate...oh boy did I eat...I'm miserably full right now. I also treated D to a dessert of banana pudding for his behavior during over 2 hours at the neurologist.

He really did do pretty well, all things considered. We discussed it, and decided to up his dose a bit of the ADHD med, but split it up into 2 doses a day. I'm hoping this will even out his morning transitions when the meds kick in. Mornings have been really rough for us these last 4 months. The neuro also said that his pedi is quite wrong about the Strattera causing his stinky nasal drainage. Yeah, I had a feeling he'd say that. So, tomorrow I will be calling to get an ENT referral.

We are also keeping his seizure medicine the same for now. He has to go 2 years seizure free to start weaning off it, and since he just had one this past August, that time started over. :( But its ok, I have a feeling that he'll be on seizure meds for quite some time, just due to the special neuro issues he has. I'm ok with that.

Ok here we go on input...remember, it was a splurge, don't freak at the cal count!

Input:
B:Fiber One bar
S: fat free yogurt
L: Healthy Choice french bread pepperoni pizza
S: Cheezits
D: Red, Hot, and Blue Pulled Pork Nachos and 2 glasses of sweet tea
S: 1/4th of the Red, Hot, and Blue Banana Pudding

A day out and about

Since my gma and bro were still OOT, and we couldn't go over there for lunch, my aunt came out here, and treated us to lunch. (Mostly, I had a gift cert from restaurant.com which helped with lots of it...but still...thanks Donna!) We ate at Cindi's NY Deli, and I knew I was going to have a hard time, however I keep thinkin about our splurge coming up tomorrow night, and reminding myself I can make it. I did have an omelette though (just cheese, no meat or anything) with salsa on the side, and then a slice of toast with a little container of butter. I did make sure to not have any breakfast before we went...lol that so helped. We got little petit fours from there for later too (D's was in the shape of a pig...lol he was so proud to eat the pigs nose...weirdo kid)

We then hit up the mall for some walking around.

Yup, we hit up CFA, but not the one at the mall. I so just wanted to get home, so we hit up the drivethru one, but that meant, no free icedream cone :( oh well.

I did have a SERIOUS chocolate feigning this afternoon. I was shaking from it (thanks AF!), so I bummed a small hershey bar from one of the ladies up here who keeps a basket of chocolate for the classes. However, I did make sure to tell her to not let me ask for anymore! Fortunately it satisfied for then...til tonite...but thats just gonna have to pass on its own. :(

Blech

I gotta take D back to the doc this week. His nasal drainage STILL stinks, after 2 rounds of antibiotics (Zpac and Amoxicillin). So back we go on Thursday. I hope they can figure out whats causing this!

I was quite upset with one of my coworkers today. Yesterday, someone brought him a bowl of mini Reeses pb cups. And he had been teasing me about them. Uggh...fortunately, a couple of people polished off the bowl as of today, and I can happily say I did not indulge. That temptation is over. WHEW.

It was awesome! It was so nice outside, that we spent a good portion of it there.
