Heels and Hills 15K

So...last weekend, we walked White Rock Lake which was 9.3 miles, basically a 15K. We did it in 3:07:07. I had no idea what to expect in a time, so I was "ok" with that though I knew it was slow.

We did the Heels and Hills 15K today, and again I didn't really know what to expect time-wise. I think Jenn and I both were thinking 3 hours flat or less would be great. Well, not only did we stay below 3 hours, we killed it!! We finished it in 2:48:21. How freaking cool is that??? We knocked 19 minutes off our time!!

Now I will say, I have some awesome friends. Because as we started the race, Jenn offered to push D in the stroller so I could get a good feel for how my time would be without the stroller. Then she and Dina continued to push him for the rest of it, and at the 10K mark where Dina turned off, she even offered to watch him for the rest of the 5K. They are such awesome ladies! I believe that the great time we had was totally because of no stroller. This REALLY took a load off my mind because I'd been worried that not having the stroller would slow me down. So it was an awesome feeling!

I will say, this was probably the most mentally challenging walk to date. First of all, we had to pass by the finish line 3 times without stopping. I knew going into it that would be difficult for me, and while it was, I dealt with it. The last mile and a half or so REALLY got to me, but I pushed through, and we got it done. Even jogged in the last 10 feet to the finish...lol Gotta look good in pics...hehe.

I'm sore and stiff right now, and my groin area on the right side feels sore again like 2 weeks ago, but I'm dealing with it. I'm doing NO exercise tomorrow. lol And will be ready to go on Tuesday with 4 miles.

Yay for Jenn and I!!! We finished our first official 15K!!! How freaking cool is that???!!!!

Heels and Hills "Lucky 13" Run Team

I'm so excited to be able to announce that I got chosen to be apart of this! I feel very honored that they would even CONSIDER me for it, and know that I will happily fulfill my end of it as an ambassador for Heels and Hills. What makes it even more exciting is that my training buddy, Jenn, got chosen too!! We make such a great team in this half marathon training, and I can't wait to see where this new path takes us!

Check out this link for more info: Heels and Hills Run Team

I also want to say a huge thank you to the lovely ladies of Heels and Hills. You guys have a great organization that has really encouraged me to stick with this and press forward. I appreciate you all so much!!

Heels and Hills 5K

D and I got up at the ungodly hour of 430am to be out the door by 5:15am to join our friends at a Heels and Hills event. It was a Dollar Per K 5K/10K/15K. Dina and I walked the 5K, Jenn walked the 10K, and Holly ran the 15K. I'm proud of us, we all (as Jenn puts it) "showed up". I know for me, I would have had a great excuse to not do it, as I just walked 8 miles yesterday, but I knew it needed to be done. It was something I wanted and needed to do for myself.

And I'm glad I did because I got to compare times! I did the Red Nose Run 5K two months ago at the start of our training, and my chip time was 58:25. They posted the results for today's 5K already, and my chip time was 53:41!!! That's an almost 5 minute different in just two months!! I couldn't believe it...yeah, I DEF needed to be there this morning to know that.

Food today has been decent, though high cal, which is fine. I needed it with two walks this weekend, gotta feed my body! Before the race, I had a pbj. Afterward we went to Steak and Shake where I got a kids breakfast (scrambled egg, bacon and toast). It was super cheap and just the right amount! Lunch was at my grandma's. We had bbq (no bun for me!), cottage cheese, a few chips, salad with light ranch, and half of a corn on the cob (no butter). After that, my aunt treated us to a movie (G Force...cute for D...corny as all get out for mommy) and D and I split a small popcorn. I had a serving of butter noodles (no butter added) that I made with dinner, but other than that I didn't eat much. I had a big lunch. I'm going to have a bit of mango ice cream this evening which will end my day at 1645 calories.

Output: an almost 54 minute 3.1 mile walk this morning, plus a few minutes of stretching, and then I did a few more minutes of light stretching at my grandma's as I got stiff after lunch.
